I am enjoying all the technology I have learned, especially the Flip Video. The e-books are also great. My students have had fun making them. I introduced PALS with my first graders this week. It was a huge success! I think this will be a fun way for the students to improve their reading skills.
NC Quest has provided me with a link to the 21st century in my classroom! I am now able to access technology in my class in ways I never knew before! I am loving using the flip camera! Also love United Streaming!

Puzzles from www.jigzone.com can be added to your blog. Puzzles are interesting ways to get students to work together and to write about the process that they used to solve the puzzle.

The flip video has been a useful tool to record students modeling PALS and to capture the fun moments and celebrations. I have enjoyed posting pictures on my website. Now all I have to do is encourage students and parents to visit and blog.
Hello,
We have been using the flip video camera for recording the students in a mock debate posted the video on google for the students to view.
I have been using the websites and other resources provided by NC Quest in my science classes. I plan to use the flip video camera to record our upcoming science fair.
I have been using the flip video to record my fourth graders. We will be videoing our fourth grade presidential elections on Election Day and posting the results to our websites as a podcast.
My son and daughter will be in football/cheerleading playoffs this Saturday. So...I'll have to leave at 11:30AM.

Jones Elementary and the Flip Video

The incorporation of the Flip Video into the NC Quest Summer Technology Workshop was a great success at Jones Elementary. The teachers were extremely enthusiastic and warmly embraced this new teaching tool for classroom instruction. They were very eager for the fall semster to begin so that they could apply this innovative tool in their individual classes. I cannot wait to hear about these creative applications.

Webquest Workshop at Carter G. Woodson

The Webquest Workshop at Carter G. Woodson provided the students with some of the information that they needed to engage in this new type of lesson plan. An actual engagement in the process of creating a webquest in the workshop would have been more effective for the students would be inclined to remember(Dale's Cone of Memory)the process better and incoporate it into deep learning (Bernie Dodge, the creator of the webquest has already provided these lessons for educators). Handouts would have also allowed the students to have a tangible reference source that they will need since we will not see them for another month. I think that we have to remember that student engagement is the key. We have to involve as many learning dimensions (Marzano) as possible in the process of instruction. The lecture approach can easily be modified. The homework assignment that was geared to discipline and student level was appropriate.

WebQuest

Carolyn,

I thought your Webquest presentation at Carter G. Woodson on 10/18/08 was right on target. The way you scheduled the homework assignment into their real world teaching schedule was especailly good. I am looking forward to reviewing what they produce.
